ABOUT The Guide

This restaurant guide was born in 2019, when an influx of restaurant recommendation requests came my way on Instagram. "Where should we eat?" can’t be answered without some follow-up questions, so I decided to make a guide to cover all bases.

This guide is independent and not associated with any business, company, or restaurant on any level. There will be no promotions of any kind.

The intention is to point you in the right direction of restaurants and culinary brands through social media, accessibly and extensively. Categories are all centralized on one page with direct links, along with Instagram and neighborhood information for each business. My interest is solely in helping Philly restaurants, and those looking to support them, by creating a centralized hub to discover many of Philadelphia’s amazing culinary offerings. I have personal favorite spots — and various favorite bites and dining experiences — but this list will never feature any specific order or rankings. I would simply recommend everything on here.

Because of the pandemic, you’ll also find many noteworthy pop-ups, chefs working out of random kitchens, and ongoing collaborations. (Please note that I cannot hyperlink restaurants or IG pages on the guide…)

For full transparency, I have worked with, or am currently working with several of the names on this list. However, I would never endorse a business I don’t believe in. It is a privilege to be able to work with some of the remarkable chefs and restaurants in this city. This list is free of bias or favoritism of any kind, and food will always remain subjective.

If there’s a restaurant or business that you believe is missing, I am always open to recommendations and tips. While I have been lucky enough to make my way through the Philadelphia restaurant scene, it’s a pretty vast food scene....

Whether you’ve received it as a resource or landed here by chance, I hope this guide can help in any way possible. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

ABOUT Me

I fell into the world of public relations and business consulting in 2015 after a career as a sports and music journalist for seven years. Working for Peter Breslow Consulting & Public Relations, the majority of my clients consist of restaurants, chefs, bakers, and other food and beverage brands. I also work with a number of fashion retailers, real estate agents and small businesses.

My responsibilities include writing press releases and profile stories, web copy, media placement, photography, executing social media channels and campaigns, event coordination, brand and menu development, marketing, business consulting, and the occasional food swap/drop-off.

In early 2021, I was promoted to Director of Brand Development, and have been playing a more significant role in helping to develop new businesses from inception.

Nature photography became a hobby in 2016, and I began professionally shooting food in 2017. Over the past several years, food photography has become an integral and enjoyable part of my job and daily life. I am also experienced with portraits, real estate, and product photography. I have photographed some local bands, and concert photography is a goal of mine one day.

I graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 2007 with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, and currently live in Center City Philadelphia with my boxer, Izzy. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, traveling, visiting national parks, seeing Phish and other live music, and exploring Philadelphia’s vast and ever-growing restaurant scene.

My work has been featured in The New York Times, Bon Appétit, Esquire, Condé Nast Traveler, Food & Wine, World’s 50 Best, CNN Travel, BBC Thai, Philadelphia Magazine, Fine Dining Lovers, Edible Philly, Pastry Arts Magazine, ABC, NBC, Inside Edition, Fortune, Medium, KitchenAid Stories, Eater, Downtown Magazine NYC, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Resy, Philadelphia Business Journal, Plate Magazine, World of Mouth, Tea Time Magazine, The Philadelphia Citizen, WHYY, and more.
